Ants

Ants are the most widespread dominant pest in households. They are found throughout structures both commercial and residential from homes, garages, and shops. Restaurants, hospitals, offices, and warehouses are also affected by ants. There is no place to large or small for this resilient species to invade. Ants are a colonize species that work together in large numbers. Ants’ bodies consist of three sections. A head, thorax, and abdomen. They have elbow antennae and 6 legs.

army worms

These worms get their name based off the large-scale invasive behavior tactics of its larvae. Before cocooning itself for its final stage of becoming a moth, this worm goes into a feeding frenzy. For days it can feed on crops or well-manicured lawns. They are known for destroying crops and lawns within days and sometimes even hours

honey bees

Honeybees are an important part of our ecosystem. Although they are not on the endangered species list, and it is not illegal to kill honeybees it is considered bad practice to arbitrarily kill honeybees without at least making an effort to save them. Contacting a beekeeper to remove the hive is the first step.

Honeybees are social insects that live in colonies. This hive is made up of three parts, the Queen, drones (male), and workers.  Honeybees can build hives next to buildings and property structures as well as inside walls of residential and commercial structures.

 

Solutions/Treatment

Contact Beekeeper to remove the hive if possible.

bumble bees

Bumble bees are social insects. They build their hives underground making them difficult to locate at times. Although not aggressive they are capable of stinging if threatened.

If accessible extraction removal of the hive is the most effective treatment. If the hive cannot be extracted the combination of insecticide components are to be inserted into the hives entry point

crickets

Crickets are more of an agricultural pest than household. Small gardens can attract them to feed and damage your harvest. Crickets are considered to be a nuisance by large numbers. When inside homes they can eat holes in paper, rubber, cotton, linen, wool, and fur. It is the constant chirping that can disturb you the most.

drain flies

Drain flies are similar in size to gnats and are considered to be a true family of flies. Drain flies inhabit plumbing drains and sewage systems. They are harmless but reproduce in high numbers which can be quite bothersome when occupying bathrooms or kitchens

Insecticide component to be applied down plumbing drains.

earwigs

Earwigs are an outdoor species but are known to enter homes. Although they can look very threatening due to their size and pinchers the pinchers are quite harmless and cannot penetrate the skin. They love moisture and debris. Too much of this on or around a property is likely to attract this unwanted insect.

 

Solutions/Treatment

A combination of Insecticide components to be applied to the interior and exterior of the structure. Occasional lawn treatment may be needed depending on severity of infestation.

Recommend treatment every 90 days along with removal of debris from property and around structure.

fleas & ticks

Fleas are small wingless insects that are flat on both sides of its body. Once adults they form piercing blood-sucking mouthparts. They feed on the blood of warm-blooded animals including humans.

Ticks are divided into two families, hard-body ticks and soft-body ticks. Both have penetrating mouthparts to pierce the skin of their host to withdraw blood to feed.

 

Solutions/Treatment

A combination of insecticides is to be applied to the lawn and depending on if there is an infestation in the home it may need to be treated. Also, recommend all domestic pets are regularly treated with preventatives to help lessen the chances of infesting the home.

flies

Flies are one of the largest and most diverse class of insects. The most common fly that lives close to humans is the domestic house fly. Not only is this fly annoying it can also bite and transmit diseases. They are attracted to a host of thins such as food, garbage, decay, etc.

A specialize fly repellant to be applied in areas of infestations.

pantry moth

This grain-feeding pest can be found in dry goods. They consume products such as cereals, fruits, cornmeal, flour, and other dry goods. Usually, they find a long-standing product that has gone unused for some time. These moths will lay eggs in the dry goods.

Solutions/Treatment

Sometimes the quickest treatment is to clear storage areas in kitchens and pantries of old dry goods thus removing the eggs and solving the problem. If this does not remedy the problem, specialized treatment may be necessary.

scorpions

Scorpions are a part of the Arachnid family. They have eight legs, two front pinchers, and a tail with a stinger on the end.  While most scorpions in Oklahoma are non-lethal the sting can be quite painful. Scorpions find their way inside your home due to weather or hunting for food. They are often found in carpets, shoes, bedding, and furniture.

silverfish

Silverfish live in damp areas indoors and out. They love debris and can also be found underneath boxes and boards.

spiders

As scary as spiders seem there is only a couple to fear.  Black Widows and Brown Recluses both carry a venom that can cause severe damage and even death. Spiders live in a host of hidden areas. Just because you don’t see them doesn’t mean they are not there.

A combination of insecticide components is to be applied to the interior and exterior of the structure. Treating the crawl space and attic is necessary. Sometimes lawn treatment is recommended depending on the infestation.

wasps

The most common forms of wasps encountered are yellow jackets, hornets, mud daubers, digger wasps, and paper wasps. Wasps are closely related to bees. Unlike bees who feed their young pollen and honey, wasps feed their young insects. Wasps are considered social and act as a family unit.
